I love the state library lawn - it's such a contrast from the concrete buildings surrounding it. However, the surrounding buildings at the same time gives me a sense of security - probably because of the high level of public surveillance.

is it just the grass that makes the library forecourt the "freest" place to sit in the city ? or is it more ?
are there any other places that you feel come close to being free spaces like this one ?
about being a good people-watching spot, i agree completely.
do you like places where you can just hang out and people-watch ?

Grass is an amazing thing, it grows, when there is no water restictions, easily, is soft to sit on, and gives the fealing of relaxation even in the middle of an urban metropolis. The library lawn is also the 'freest' place to sit in the city, no retail with in atleast 30m, haha. It also is the best people watching spot in town
